I graduated from Erskine College (a small college in Due West, South Carolina) with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then moved to Raleigh, where I worked as a Laboratory Scientist at Mako Medical performing various genetics based diagnostic tests. A year later, I took a position in the Functional Genomics Core Facility here at Duke, learning the ins and outs of cell-line engineering and CRISPR screening with Dr. So Young Kim. I was accepted into Duke’s University Program in Genetics and Genomics (UPGG) in the of Fall 2023 and joined Nina’s lab the following spring. My thesis work focuses on developing next generation sequencing-based assays and reporter-based screens to understand how GPCR activity mediates the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Outside of the lab, I love attending concerts at local venues, cooking new recipes, and collecting plants.
